Make sure all hard copies are in a secure place. A locking file cabinet works well, however, they can still be vulnerable to fire and water damage.
Be sure to have at least one back up of your digital material. This should be on a separate drive from the original files and better yet be stored in a different machine, different room or different building. Call your computer support technician for more details on keeping your files secure.
